Selma Rondon is one of the most senior acupuncturists in the US, becoming the first batch of Diplomates under the umbrella of The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Selma began her studies of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in 1983. At the time, the lack of translated reference material in Chinese medicine pushed Selma to earn a Bachelors Degree in Chinese Literature and allowed her to live and study acupuncture in China on two separate occasions in the late 1980’s.

Selma’s initial impetus to study Chinese Medicine was the result of having studied and practiced Shiatsu in her Brooklyn studio. Initially trained as a modern dancer and ballet, Selma opened a Brooklyn Heights dance and exercise studio in 1979, where she taught modern dance and the Nickolaus Exercise Technique; a series of sequenced 30 postural corrective exercises originally developed for the prevention of football injuries commissioned by Duke University. When addressing various types of acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes, she incorporates her teaching and movement experience to address any underlying alignment issues with her acupuncture patients.

Selma’s more than three decades of clinical experience has given her a distinct advantage and expertise in successfully treating a host of acute and chronic illness. Early on in her practice, she developed a particular interest in infertility, repeated miscarriages and digestive disorders. Additionally, Selma’s competence in treating pain, immune and neurological disorders, digestive health, gynecology, allergies, skin conditions and a host of other chronic health diseases is supported by patient testimonials.

Selma’s initial consultation includes a in-depth review of your medical history, reviewing and discussing your health concerns, treatment plan and goals, followed by an acupuncture treatment.

Be it your first, tenth or decades after your first session, Selma’s pragmatic and clinical approach to each treatment ensures efficacious and satisfying results.
